KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for Senior Officer, Technical Interpreter  

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It’s a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To coordinate the Smelter Managers’ activities and act as an expert interpreter, translator and coordinator in various occasions to ensure strategy, technical, management outputs are clearly understood by all parties.  The incumbent ensures achievement of the organisation’s objectives by providing expert interpretation, translation, communication and coordination services.

You will have the following:

A University Degree / Bachelors’ qualification with 5 years’ relevant experience with English as a requirement and Chinese (Mandarin), French & Swahili as a preference

Preferably you will have: 

A Bachelors’ Degree relevant to Metallurgy or English/French Major 

You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:

• Smelting production, construction and processing
• Smelting legislation
• Fluent in Mandarin and English
• Understand protocol and terminology for the smelting industry
• Business acumen/understanding of KCSA business

Technical Skills should include:

• Ability to translate complex technical, strategic and business concepts between Chinese and English
• Business understanding
• Contractor management
• Excellent listening, information retention and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation

Personal Competencies should include:

• Problem-solving of day to day execution issues
• Cultural and language differences
• Accurate translation

Act as a support for the Smelter Managers to coordinate activities between various internal and external stakeholders and ensure a clear understanding of communication across all level

• IFS communications and coordination
