 Job purpose & Scope:

This role involves all stages in interior design projects from client brief, concept development, material sourcing and selection, compiling technical drawing packs, final client presentations, and site installation. This role is based in our studio in Greenpoint and will report to the Studio Manager.

Main accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage multiple projects ranging from small to large-sized projects of basic to complex scope.
  • Collaborate with the Studio Designers to create concepts and storyboards for upcoming projects.
  • Take initial client meetings and put together briefs.
  • Work under the direction of the Studio Manager and Creative Director.
  • Set up project budgets for handover to the admin and finance department.
  • Furniture Layouts / Spatial planning of spaces.
  • Draft electrical and lighting coordination drawing packs, including Bed Elevations, Feature Lighting, Artwork Layouts, and Window Treatments. Ability to analyse and process consultant layouts to identify problems and propose solutions to Studio Manager and Creative Director.
  • Ability to produce and navigate within complex models in Revit.
  • Good eye for producing architectural 3D views for Client presentations and internal meeting purposes, including appropriate angles, view ratios, texture, and furniture model visuals.
  • Produce plans, sections, elevations, and details to convey interior design information such as joinery, wall finishes, etc
  • Gain thorough knowledge of and compliance with all Studio standards, naming conventions, standards and procedures and drive continuous improvements for the department
  • Excellent time management and communication skills to ensure all deadlines are continuously met with Project Managers and Suppliers.
  • Ability to be flexible and forthcoming with supporting and assisting team leaders and designers with achieving deadlines.

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Interior Design or equivalent.
  • Working experience in AutoCAD, SketchUp and proficient in REVIT.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of work experience, in which at least 2 years were as a project lead/senior designer or equivalently have run over 5 projects as a senior designer or project leader
  • Experience overseeing, guiding and mentoring junior designers.
  • Comprehensive MS Office skills and InDesign.
  • A valid driver’s license and own transport.
