Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer or Engineering Technician/Technologist to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of post-registration experience and a keen interest in progressing towards a programme manager or project leader role. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to and grow within a leading company in the construction support services industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems and solutions for various construction support projects.
  • Provide technical support and expertise during the planning, design, and execution phases of projects.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other construction elements.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, proposals, and documentation.
  • Assist in project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in mechanical engineering practices within the company.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
  • Engage in professional development and training to stay updated with industry advancements and trends.
  • Work towards taking on programme manager or project leader responsibilities as part of career development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer or Engineering Technician/Technologist.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-registration experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the construction support services sector.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, execution, and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on practical solutions.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
