Job Description
The buyer will form part of a Category Management team responsible for the development and execution of the Category Procurement strategy, with a specific focus on sourcing of Mechanisation Equipment & Spares.
Requirements:
- Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma / Trade.
- Specialization in Procurement & Data Analytics would be an advantage.
- +5Years experience in a Mechanization environment
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Proficient in use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Power-point).
- Advanced MS Office Excel skills required.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Own transport and a valid driver’s license
- Must be prepared to travel for work purposes.
- Must be willing to work long hours during peak times.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as the company’s central point of contact for Mechanization related suppliers.
- Develops and maintains sound supplier relationships with the Mechanization suppliers.
- Negotiates ad hoc purchase prices and term deals with suppliers.
- Resolves pricing discrepancies and claims with Mechanization suppliers.
- Assesses supply and quality risks and evaluates supplier capacity and capability to ensure supplier selection supports the execution of the Category strategy.
- In conjunction with the Category team, establishes seasonal demand and procurement plans.
- In conjunction with the Category team, establishes optimal stock assortments per branch.
- Records and maintains accurate purchase price files in the ERP system.
- Continuously screens the Category supply market to identify sourcing optimization opportunities.
- Proactively identifies and communicates Category specific supply constraints to the business to be prepared for and to minimize supply disruptions.
- Participates in Category specific product development initiatives.
- Identifies and drives opportunities to rationalise products and to reduce complexity.
