Job Description


The buyer will form part of a Category Management team responsible for the development and execution of the Category Procurement strategy, with a specific focus on sourcing of Mechanisation Equipment & Spares.

 

Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma / Trade.
  • Specialization in Procurement & Data Analytics would be an advantage.
  • +5Years experience in a Mechanization environment
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Power-point).
  • Advanced MS Office Excel skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Own transport and a valid driver’s license
  • Must be prepared to travel for work purposes.
  • Must be willing to work long hours during peak times.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the company’s central point of contact for Mechanization related suppliers.
  • Develops and maintains sound supplier relationships with the Mechanization suppliers.
  • Negotiates ad hoc purchase prices and term deals with suppliers.
  • Resolves pricing discrepancies and claims with Mechanization suppliers.
  • Assesses supply and quality risks and evaluates supplier capacity and capability to ensure supplier selection supports the execution of the Category strategy.
  • In conjunction with the Category team, establishes seasonal demand and procurement plans.
  • In conjunction with the Category team, establishes optimal stock assortments per branch.
  • Records and maintains accurate purchase price files in the ERP system.
  • Continuously screens the Category supply market to identify sourcing optimization opportunities.
  • Proactively identifies and communicates Category specific supply constraints to the business to be prepared for and to minimize supply disruptions.
  • Participates in Category specific product development initiatives.
  • Identifies and drives opportunities to rationalise products and to reduce complexity.
