| | Position Details: - Duration: Two Years
- Commitment: Overtime expected, including after-hours on-site calls
- Training: Comprehensive fellow training in trauma surgery, adhering to the standards set by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa
Responsibilities Include: - Clinical work and supervision across all unit aspects: casualty, ward, ICU, and theatre procedures
- Teaching and mentoring registrars and medical students, with involvement in exam setting and marking
- National and regional level teaching opportunities
- Active participation in research with a minimum of one publication per annum and supervision of MMeds
- Presentation at congresses, both physical and virtual
- Outreach activities to cluster hospitals referring to CMJAH
Unit Management Responsibilities: - Coordination among unit managers, resolution of management issues, and formulation/enforcement of unit protocols
- Data support and management, proficiency in computing skills
University Activities: - Engagement in university activities as per unit/university needs
Minimum Requirements: - MBBChB (or South African Equivalent)
- FCS (SA)
- Full registration with the HPCSA as a specialist General Surgeon
