Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain costing systems for all manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and analyze actual production costs versus system costs, identifying variances and investigating the causes.
  • Re-cost existing products and perform costings for new products.
  • Prepare detailed reports on cost performance, variances, and profitability for management.
  • Ensure accurate allocation of overhead costs to production activities.
  • Create and update Bill of Materials on the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with the inventory team to manage and analyze inventory movements and valuations.
  • Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Calculate and monitor slow-moving or obsolete inventory, recommending actions to management.
  • Ensure all stock in the ERP system has accurate cost and selling prices.
  • Assist with stocktakes and cycle counts when necessary.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Work closely with production and procurement teams to forecast material and labor costs.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Support the finance team during audits by providing detailed cost-related information.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, financial regulations, and internal control policies.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement in manufacturing activities.
  • Implement cost control procedures to monitor production efficiency and resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Studying towards or CIMA qualified (advantageous).
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Syspro proficiency preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to handle large data sets.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret financial data.
  • Strong communication skills for effective cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to timely task completion.
