Job Description


A vacancy exists in the Boiler Development and Training Centre at our branch in Bellville for a Boiler Training Officer reporting to the BDTC Manager. The primary purpose of this position will be to prepare and provide training materials and courses on the operation, maintenance and management of shell boilers and boiler ancillaries.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12
  • Technical qualification (N3 or N4) electrical or mechanical.
  • Certificate as an Assessor or Moderator from an accredited body advantageous

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Good boiler knowledge with at least five years in Boiler Operation and Maintenance environment
  • Fluent in at least two national languages, a third national language will be advantageous
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • Be prepared to travel locally and across borders for extended periods of time.
  • Computer literacy

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify training needs of Boiler Users.
  • Review Training for the growth of John Thompson’s training activities.
  • Provide a support service to customers and John Thompson personnel.
  • Keep abreast of John Thompson products and developments.
  • Compile training materials and ensure that they remain relevant.
  • Compile and present training courses and evaluate trainees attending our boiler courses.
  • Ensure that all BDTC equipment and buildings are maintained and kept clean.
  • Market and sell training courses
  • Do practical assessments on the Boiler and the Operators
