Our well-established client in the pharmaceutical industry has a vacancy available for a Data Analyst/Insights Specialist based in Parktown.

Main Purpose of Job
The role will be responsible for analysing internal business and external market data to identify
opportunities, gaps, and problems within the organization. This role includes evaluating the
performance of the Marketing, Sales and Prescription (Rx) teams against their KPIs and
contributing to data improvement initiatives to develop a world-class insights and analytics
environment, establishing the function as a competitive advantage within the healthcare industry.
To develop an insights and analytics business unit, passionate about identifying unmet needs,
gaps and opportunities thereby prioritizing investment and maximising ROI.
The role will also be responsible to develop and nurture a data-driven culture across the
organisation with the establishment, maintenance and enhancement of a self-service reporting
structure, telling a story with data democratising data and analytical skills.

Key Performance Areas (Core, essential responsibilities – outputs of the position)
1. Data Analysis and Reporting
o Analyse internal business data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for
improvement.
o Evaluate external market data to understand the competitive landscape and market
opportunities.
o Examine, interpret and report results of analytical initiatives to stakeholders in
leadership, R&D, sales, marketing, digital marketing and engineering
2. Performance Monitoring
o Monitor and report on the performance of sales and Rx team representatives
against KPIs.
o Provide actionable insights to improve team performance and meet business
objectives.
3. Data Improvement Initiatives
o Participate in ad-hoc data improvement projects.
o Collaborate with the IT and data management teams to enhance data quality and
integrity.
4. Stakeholder Communication
o Work closely with the Marketing Executive team to align data analysis efforts with
business goals.
o Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
5. Problem-solving and Insights Generation
o Leverage strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify business
opportunities and address gaps.
o Translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
6. Collaboration and Teamwork
o Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
o Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to foster a data-driven culture.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION
• Any degree within the STEM disciplines that may include:
o Bachelor’s degree in Business Science
o Bachelor’s degree in Data Science
o Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics
o Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics and/or Applied Mathematics
o Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science 

EXPERIENCE
• Minimum experience of 2- 4 years working in a similar role
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential Skills & Experience
• Experience using analytics and statistical techniques to deduce insights which contribute
to company growth efforts, increasing revenue and other key business outcomes.
• Strong problem-solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
• Knowledge is preferable in any data analysis tools and programming languages
o Power BI
o Python
o R
o SQL
• Experience working with and creating dashboards and reports using all relevant data to
inform decisions
• Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills.
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
• High level of proficiency in the ability to tell a story with data using Microsoft Office
Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Advantageous
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry:
o Understanding of doctor prescribing data (IQVIA, Dis-Chem etc.) and pharmacy
sales data
o Understanding of the pharmaceutical supply chain
• Experience in dealing with the following marketing elements:
o Deep insight into consumer behaviour
o Experienced in mapping customer journeys
o Experienced in leveraging insight from digital marketing analytics
Develop statistical research tools (quantitative and qualitative) to gather data
from the field
