This is a full-time job as a Bosun on the fishing vessel MFV Mercury, part of Oceana Group Limited’s pelagic fleet. Based in St Helena Bay, Western Cape, you will work closely with the Skipper and Mate to ensure smooth vessel operations. Key responsibilities include assisting with bridge duties, leading deck activities during fishing operations, maintaining hydraulic/electronic systems, enforcing safety protocols, and repairing nets. In the Skipper’s absence, you will assume command of the vessel. Requirements include 3+ years of experience on purse seine vessels, bilingual proficiency, valid SAMSA medical certificate, Grade 4 Watchkeeper Certificate, Restricted Radio License, Seaman’s Discharge Book, Marine Fire Fighting, and First Aid at Sea certifications.
