This is a full-time, permanent job as a Bosun on the fishing vessel MFV Alert, part of Oceana Group Limited’s pelagic fleet. Based at the Lucky Star site in St Helena Bay, Western Cape, the role involves supporting vessel operations, ensuring safety standards, and assisting with fishing activities. Key responsibilities include navigation support, deck operations (nets/equipment), hydraulic/electronic systems, safety compliance, net repairs, and maintenance coordination. In the Skipper’s absence, you will oversee vessel operations.

Requirements: 3+ years on purse seine vessels; valid SAMSA medical certificate; Grade 4 Watchkeeper Certificate or Officer in Charge (fishing vessels >24m); Restricted Radio License; Pre-Sea/Seamans Discharge Book; Marine Fire Fighting and First Aid at Sea certifications; knowledge of maritime safety laws; net mending/rope skills. Bilingualism and strong communication skills are advantageous.
