Job Description
Raubex KZN, part of the Raubex Group, is looking for a skilled and experienced General Foreman (also called a Site Foreman). This role is based in Ethekwini (Durban), KwaZulu-Natal. The job involves managing construction projects, especially in road and earthworks, and requires someone who can lead a team effectively while working away from home, often without family.
As a General Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This includes managing the team, ensuring high-quality work, and meeting project deadlines. You will handle project management tasks, such as planning, coordinating resources, and tracking progress. Another key part of the job is making sure all work follows quality and safety standards, including health, safety, and environmental rules. You will also manage basic human resources tasks like keeping track of employee time and overtime. Additionally, you will calculate materials needed for projects, monitor deliveries, and maintain detailed records of all activities. Procuring materials and equipment is also part of your responsibilities, ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budget.
To qualify for this role, you must have completed Grade 12 (Matric). You need at least ten years of experience as a foreman, preferably in civil construction or road infrastructure. Knowledge of bituminous products (like asphalt) is important. Strong leadership skills are a must, as you will be managing a team and making key decisions on-site. Good communication skills are essential, as you will need to coordinate with workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. You should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to travel as needed. A valid driver’s license and your own transport are required since the job involves regular site visits. South African citizenship is also necessary.
This is a permanent full-time position with the opportunity to grow within the company. While the salary range is not specified, the role offers stability and the chance to develop your career in construction. The job involves working on-site in Durban, with the possibility of travel to different project locations.
