Job Description
This job is for a Foundation Phase Teacher at Trinityhouse, a well-known private school under the Advtech Schools Division in George, Western Cape. Trinityhouse is a values-driven school focused on providing excellent education with a strong Christian foundation. They aim to prepare students for leadership and meaningful lives through academic, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.
As a Foundation Phase Teacher, you will teach young children in grades Foundation Phase (typically ages 5-9) using a mix of play-based learning, structured routines, and early literacy and numeracy skills. Your main tasks will include planning and delivering fun, hands-on lessons that help children develop language, math, social skills, and independence. You will also assess students regularly to track their progress in reading, writing, numbers, and emotional development, then provide feedback and support to help them improve.
You will create a warm, organized classroom where children feel safe and excited to learn, while working with other teachers to share ideas and improve teaching methods. You will also help students with behavior, emotional challenges, and social skills, using positive strategies to encourage good habits. Additionally, you will communicate with parents to keep them updated on their child’s progress and participate in school events to build a strong school community.
To qualify for this job, you need a teaching qualification in Foundation Phase Education, such as a B.Ed Foundation Phase Teaching degree or equivalent at NQF Level 7 or higher. You should have at least 2 to 5 years of teaching experience, or a 1-year internship if you are an exceptional candidate. A valid SACE registration and police clearance are also required.
You must have strong knowledge of early childhood development, phonics, early reading, handwriting, and play-based learning. Good classroom management, planning, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to create a structured and nurturing environment. Experience with digital tools for teaching and parent communication is a plus, as is familiarity with the CAPS Foundation Phase curriculum.
This job offers a permanent position in a supportive, faith-based school environment with opportunities for career growth and professional development. Benefits may include recognition programs, wellbeing support, and family-friendly initiatives.
