Job Description

What the job is: Rosebank College, part of the Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), is a well-known private higher education institution in South Africa. For over 70 years, they have provided quality education to students across the country. They are now expanding their programs and need qualified staff to help with this growth. If you love teaching and want to be part of their success, this is a great opportunity for you. The college is looking for people who are passionate about education and can contribute to their future plans.

What you will do: As a part-time Mathematics Lecturer, your main job will be to teach mathematics-related modules for a set number of hours each week. You will follow the module schedule to prepare students for exams and assignments. This includes tracking how students are doing, helping those who are struggling, and managing student records. You will also work with the Academic Team to create and improve assessments. Another important part of the job is checking student progress, reporting any issues, and attending academic meetings. You will analyze student results to see how well the module is working and help identify any problems. Finally, you must complete professional development activities each year to improve your teaching skills and stay updated with best practices.

What you need: To apply, you should ideally have a Bachelor of Science Honours or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science. The college prefers candidates with at least 2 years of experience teaching modules that include data or analytics. Some work experience as a data analyst or data scientist is also a plus. You must provide a copy of your academic transcript. Besides qualifications, you need to understand how higher education works in South Africa and know about teaching methods. You should be comfortable using digital learning platforms, able to adapt to changes, and follow rules strictly. Good time management and the ability to work under pressure are also important.

What you will get: The salary for this position is based on market rates. The college operates from Monday to Friday, with classes usually running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though your exact hours will depend on the modules you teach. Rosebank College is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from South African citizens, especially those from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. This is a great chance to work in a growing institution and make a real difference in students’ lives.
