Badger Holdings is looking for a skilled Data Scientist based in George, Western Cape. The company uses data to solve real-world problems in the insurance industry. They want someone with at least five years of experience who can take charge of machine learning projects and turn business questions into practical solutions.

What you will do:
- Manage the entire process of machine learning projects, including data preparation, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis.
- Build, test, and deploy machine learning models for real-world applications.
- Monitor model performance, detect data drift, and update models as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues with deployed solutions and ensure reliability of processes and pipelines.
- Document all work clearly for team maintenance.
- Create dashboards and reports to support business teams.

What you need:
- Degree or honors qualification in data science.
- At least five years of experience in insurance or financial services.
- Hands-on experience in machine learning from start to finish.
- Strong skills in Python or R, SQL, and Snowflake.
- Experience in claims modeling and survival analysis.
- Understanding of statistical modeling and time series forecasting.
- Experience with short-term insurance, ML platforms, and BI tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense, or Tableau) is a plus.
