Rhodes University in Makhanda, Eastern Cape, is looking for two Electrical Artisan Assistants to join their Facilities and Infrastructure team. This is a permanent position, but the university may consider a fixed-term contract of at least three years. The role is based on-site at the university campus.

As an Electrical Artisan Assistant, your main job will be to help maintain all lighting and heaters on campus. You will assist electricians with tasks like building, fixing, and maintaining electrical systems and appliances across the university, including wiring, repairs, and general maintenance. The role may involve working at heights, such as on ladders, scaffolding, or aerial platforms. Driving a light motor vehicle is also part of the duties.

Requirements:
- N2 qualification (NQF level 3)
- At least three years of experience in electrical work, including fixing and maintaining lighting systems and general electrical repairs
- Ability to work at heights safely
- Valid driver’s license for a light motor vehicle (or willingness to obtain one during probation, with university covering the first attempt cost)
