Job Description
What the job is:
This is a full-time Trainee Manager position at Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Cape Town, covering both the Southern and Northern Suburbs. You will work under the guidance of a store manager to learn how to run a retail pharmacy store. The role is perfect for someone with some experience in retail who wants to grow their skills in store management.
What you will do:
You will help manage the day-to-day operations of a Dis-Chem pharmacy store. This includes handling stock, ensuring products are well-organized, and providing good customer service. You will assist with ordering stock, checking inventory, and ensuring the store follows all company rules and procedures.
You will also help with sales targets by working with different departments to meet goals, such as selling fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), health products, and beauty items. This includes setting up promotions, checking prices, and ensuring the store looks attractive to customers.
Another big part of the job is handling money and finances. You will help with cash handling, checking daily sales reports, and ensuring all transactions are correct. You will also assist with managing store expenses, keeping records, and ensuring compliance with company rules.
You will support customer service by handling complaints, encouraging customers to join loyalty programs, and ensuring their feedback is recorded properly. Additionally, you will help with staff management tasks like scheduling, leave requests, and training new employees.
What you need:
To apply, you must have completed Matric (Grade 12). You should have at least 1 to 2 years of experience working in retail, especially in areas like stock management, cash handling, reporting, controlling expenses, and customer service.
You need to be comfortable using computers, specifically Microsoft Office. Since the job involves traveling between stores, you must have a valid driver’s license and your own reliable transport.
It would be an advantage if you have a diploma in finance, administration, or a related field, but it is not required.
What you will get:
This is a permanent position with a market-related salary. You will also receive benefits like medical aid, a provident fund, and a staff account. The job requires working retail hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and involves traveling between stores in Cape Town.
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Only successful candidates will be contacted, so if you haven’t heard back within two weeks after the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
