This is a full-time Teacher Assistant position at St Stithians College, located in Johannesburg North, Gauteng. The Junior Preparatory department is the starting point for students at the school, where children from Grade RRR (Reception) to Grade 2 begin their formal education in a caring and supportive environment. The school follows a co-educational approach for these early grades before boys and girls move to separate preparatory sections.

As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Junior Preparatory. Your responsibilities will include helping with general housekeeping tasks, assisting with aftercare programs, providing classroom support, setting up for school events, managing the storeroom, and assisting at the reception area. Flower arranging skills will be useful for enhancing the school’s appearance for special occasions. Most importantly, you will be responsible for the physical care and close supervision of young children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

To qualify for this role, you must have a Certificate in Child Care. Experience in classroom assistance, aftercare programs, and setting up for events is highly preferred. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work well in a team, and a commitment to the school’s Methodist Christian values are essential. A sexual offender’s clearance certificate and a valid First Aid certificate are required before starting the job.
