What the job is:
This job is for a Senior Professional Quantity Surveyor to work with a well-known quantity surveying consulting firm in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The company is looking for someone experienced to lead projects in commercial, retail, and mixed-use developments. You will be based in their growing branch in Stellenbosch and play a key role in managing projects and helping the business grow.

What you will do:
You will be responsible for handling all aspects of quantity surveying from start to finish for different projects. This includes creating cost estimates, budgets, and detailed Bills of Quantities. You will also prepare tender documents, evaluate tenders, and manage contracts, valuations, and final accounts. Another important part of the job is controlling costs, giving commercial advice, and managing risks to keep projects on track.

You will work closely with clients, contractors, and other professionals to build strong relationships and ensure smooth project delivery. Mentoring junior team members will also be part of your role, helping them develop their skills. Additionally, you will support the company’s efforts to attract new clients and grow the business in the Stellenbosch area.

What you need:
To qualify for this job, you must be registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) with SACQSP. You should have at least seven years of experience in quantity surveying, with strong knowledge of commercial, retail, and mixed-use developments. The ability to manage projects independently from start to finish is essential, along with excellent commercial, contractual, and negotiation skills.

Proficiency in software like DimX and WinQS is required, and you should have experience leading and training junior quantity surveyors. Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills are a must. While not required, having experience in business development and a good industry network will be a big advantage. You should also be willing to travel to client meetings and project sites when needed.
