Rhodes University is looking for three Campus Guards to join their Facilities and Infrastructure team. This job is based in Makhanda, Eastern Cape. The role is permanent, but the university may also consider a fixed-term contract of at least three years.

As a Campus Guard, your main job will be to keep Rhodes University safe and secure. You will protect university property, buildings, and assets, ensuring they are not damaged or stolen. You will also create a safe environment for staff, students, and visitors by patrolling the campus and monitoring any suspicious activity.

To apply, you need to have completed Grade 12 (matric) and at least one year of experience in security work. Registration as a Security Officer Grade C under PSIRA is required, along with a Police Clearance Certificate not older than two months. Experience on a university campus or a valid driver’s license is advantageous.

This is a permanent position with a basic annual salary of R191,212 and total cost to company of R278,869, including benefits. Applications close on 28 October 2026.
