Job Description
The University of the Free State is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a research project focused on improving rangeland management and livestock value chains in the Southern African Mountains. This two-year contract position is based at the Qwaqwa Campus. The project aims to study how better land management and market strategies can improve livelihoods of livestock farmers in Phuthaditjhaba, addressing challenges like poverty, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. Responsibilities include designing research, analyzing data (using Stata/R/Python), writing reports, and engaging in fieldwork. Qualifications: PhD in Economics/Agricultural Economics/Environmental Economics (within 5 years), experience in quantitative analysis, mixed-methods research, and rural fieldwork. Familiarity with impact evaluation methods and Southern African contexts is advantageous.
