What the job is:
This is a full-time trainee position for a Store Manager at Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will learn how to run a retail pharmacy store under the guidance of an experienced store manager. The role involves hands-on training in all aspects of store operations, including stock management, sales, customer service, and financial tasks.
What you will do:
You will help manage the day-to-day running of the store, including handling stock like medicines, beauty products, and fast-moving consumer goods. This includes checking stock levels, ordering new stock, and ensuring everything is in the right place on the sales floor. You will also assist with setting up promotional displays, ensuring prices and labels are correct, and helping with receiving and checking deliveries.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the store’s sales targets by working with different departments to meet goals. You will help plan and run promotions, keep track of market trends, and suggest new ideas to improve sales. On the financial side, you will assist with cash handling, reconciling daily sales, monitoring expenses, and ensuring all transactions are accurate.
Additionally, you will play a role in customer service by handling complaints, managing the loyalty program, and ensuring customers get the help they need. You will also support human resources tasks like managing staff schedules, leave requests, and training programs. Finally, you will participate in training sessions and complete assessments to become fully competent in your role.
What you need:
To apply, you must have completed Matric (Grade 12). You should have at least 1 to 2 years of experience working in retail store management, including tasks like stock control, cash handling, reporting, expense management, and customer service. Being comfortable with computers and Microsoft Office is important, as you will be doing daily reports and managing stock systems.
A valid driver’s license and your own reliable transport are required because you may need to travel between stores or deliver supplies. A diploma in finance, administration, or a related field would be an advantage but is not required.
