What the job is: This job is for a Mine Planner with experience in Chrome mining. You will work for a mining company based in Rustenburg, North West. The role involves planning and managing all aspects of mine operations to ensure safe and efficient extraction of Chrome ore. Your work will help the company meet production targets while following mining laws and standards.

What you will do: You will be responsible for creating and updating long-term plans for the entire life of the mine, including yearly budgets and business plans. This includes designing and optimizing the mine layout, such as pits, ramps, haul roads, waste dumps, and ore stockpiles. You will also work on transitioning from open-pit to underground mining if needed.

Another key part of your job is preparing detailed mining schedules for the short, medium, and long term. This includes calculating how much ore and waste will be moved, planning the equipment needed, and ensuring the mine meets quality standards for the ore being extracted. You will also develop strategies for controlling ore grades and blending to meet product specifications.

What you need: To apply, you must have completed Matric (Grade 12) and hold a degree in Mining Engineering. Having a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency and a Blasting Certificate will be a big advantage. You should have at least 15 to 20 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 6 to 10 years specifically in Chrome open-pit mine planning.

Experience with mine planning software like Surpac, Datamine, Vulcan, Deswik, Minescape, Whittle, MineSched, or AutoCAD is required. You should also understand mining laws such as SAMREC, MPRDA, MHSA, and DMRE requirements. A valid driver’s license is also necessary.
