We are looking for a Mechanical Design Draughtsman to join the engineering team at Pump and Abrasion Technologies in Centurion, Gauteng. This role involves creating detailed mechanical designs and drawings using SolidWorks software. The position is permanent and requires someone who is precise, organized, and able to work well with others in a team.

As a Mechanical Design Draughtsman, you will work closely with engineers and other departments to create accurate mechanical drawings. Your main tasks will include producing Manufacturing Drawings, QC drawings, General Assembly Drawings, Exploded View Drawings, and Sectional Assembly Drawings, with a focus on General Assembly drawings. You will also help develop and refine mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and specifications. Keeping detailed records of design processes and changes will be part of your responsibilities, along with assisting in technical reports and presentations. You may also support the testing of new designs and follow engineering and drafting best practices. Additionally, you will work with Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management systems, manage part numbers, and create Bills of Materials (BOMs) on the company’s ERP system. The role may sometimes require working extra hours.

To qualify for this job, you must have at least three years of experience using SolidWorks. Experience working with large Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms, project management, or engineering consulting companies is a plus. Having one year of experience in mineral processing sites is also beneficial. You should have a good understanding of the design process, including PLM or PDM systems, and experience creating bills of materials. Strong knowledge of drafting standards and manufacturing processes is essential, including limits and fits, geometric tolerancing, welding standards and symbols, sheet metal cutting (laser, flame, plasma), and sheet metal bending. Familiarity with ERP systems, especially Syspro, is preferred. You must be highly organized, neat, and able to work with minimal supervision while meeting performance targets. Having your own transport is required for this role.

The salary for this position will depend on your experience and skills. The company offers group life cover, which starts after four months of employment. This is a full-time opportunity with the chance to work in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
