This is a Senior Software Engineer position at ARC AI, a company under Badger Holdings. You will work in George, Western Cape, building real-world AI systems that go beyond simple demos. The focus is on creating AI agents that work independently, handle real customer interactions, and deliver useful results in the insurance industry. This is not a research or testing role—these systems will be used in production.

What you will do:
- Design, build, and maintain AI agent systems that power ARC AI’s products.
- Create full system architecture, testing frameworks, and production reliability measures.
- Set technical standards for the team, ensuring evaluation is a key part of the process.
- Debug and fix issues in live AI systems, tracing root causes and implementing fixes.

What you need:
- Direct experience building and deploying AI agent systems in production (not just prototypes).
- Ownership of evaluation systems for production AI, including defining success metrics and testing frameworks.
- Strong experience with Python and LLM frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
- Knowledge of RAG architecture, vector databases, and data chunking/embedding.
- Experience designing APIs and integrating systems at scale.
- Understanding of secure tool access for AI agents and prompt injection prevention.
- Experience implementing guardrails like input validation and output filtering.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, progressive delivery, and canary deployments.

A big advantage would be experience in regulated industries like insurance, finance, or healthcare. Familiarity with Azure AI tools, MLOps practices, and CRM integrations is also a plus.
