This is a 12-month contract position for a Junior Metallurgist at a mining company based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role involves working in a metallurgical laboratory to support mining operations through testing, analysis, and technical investigations. Responsibilities include performing routine metallurgical tests, conducting stock checks of precious metals, planning and reporting on metallurgical test work, researching new technologies, and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards. The ideal candidate holds a Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering with at least 2 years of experience in metallurgical laboratory work, including hands-on experience with equipment like handheld XRF, SEM-EDS, XRD, and hardness testing.
