Are you an experienced COBOL developer looking for a new challenge? This role is for someone with strong COBOL skills who wants to work on important business applications. The position is based in Sunninghill, Johannesburg, with some remote work allowed. You will be part of a team responsible for building, maintaining, and improving critical software systems.

What you will do:
- Write, test, and fix COBOL programs, including new applications and updates to existing ones.
- Design and develop programs that match technical requirements.
- Create clear documentation for each step of the development process.
- Support project teams with technical guides and training materials.
- Handle user requests, troubleshoot issues, and find solutions to problems.
- Maintain applications to ensure systems run smoothly and efficiently.
- Follow strict development standards and company policies.

What you need:
- Relevant qualification in IT or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in commercial software development, with at least 5 years in COBOL.
- Experience with AcuCOBOL or Micro Focus COBOL (FlexGen RADE is a bonus).
- Strong understanding of application maintenance and SDLC.
- Basic computer skills (Windows and Microsoft Office).
