What the job is
The University of the Witwatersrand, also known as Wits University, is hiring a part-time lecturer for its School of Mechanical, Industrial & Aeronautical Engineering. This position is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and is a 30% part-time role, meaning you will work a reduced schedule compared to a full-time position.
What you will do
As a lecturer, you will teach courses related to mechanical, industrial, or aeronautical engineering to university students. You will prepare and deliver lectures, create assignments and exams, and grade student work. You may also assist with research projects or provide academic guidance to students when needed. Additionally, you will collaborate with other faculty members to develop and improve course materials.
What you need
To qualify for this role, you should have a strong academic background in mechanical, industrial, or aeronautical engineering, typically with at least a master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field. Teaching experience at the university level is highly preferred. You should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively teach and engage with students. Familiarity with modern teaching methods and tools is an advantage.
