What the job is

Assmang is looking for a skilled and motivated Shift Supervisor for Drill and Blast operations at their Black Rock Mine, located 80 km northwest of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. This is a permanent position in the mining industry, where you will oversee drilling and blasting activities while ensuring safety and efficiency in the mine operations.

What you will do

You will plan, organize, and control the drilling and blasting process to meet production targets. You will ensure that sampling requests are completed accurately and on time to achieve 100% coverage. You will interpret sampling sheets correctly and manage grade control according to mine planning. Additionally, you will coordinate the collection and transport of samples, manage drilling supplies, and inspect operations for legal compliance. You will also promote safety by identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and stopping work in unsafe areas. Regular inspections and monitoring of daily operations will be part of your role.

What you need

You must have a Grade 12 certificate, a Blasting certificate, First Aid Level 1, and a Shift Supervisor Mining certificate. A Supervisory Development certificate is advantageous. You need a valid driver’s license (Code B or EB) and a Dover B Symbol. You must have at least 5 years of supervisory experience, including 3 years in drilling and blasting, load and haul operations, and construction operations as a miner.
