What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Credit Risk Analyst at Botswana Savings Bank in Gaborone, Botswana. The role involves carefully reviewing and analyzing credit applications from businesses to help the bank make safe and smart lending decisions. You will work closely with the bank’s credit policies and rules to ensure all loans are given responsibly.

What you will do

You will evaluate credit applications by checking the background of borrowers, their financial health, cash flow, business sector, and the value of their collateral. You will analyze financial statements to understand profitability, liquidity, and debt repayment ability. You will assess risks related to the industry, market, and economy that could affect the borrower’s ability to repay. You will recommend loan terms, limits, interest rates, and security requirements to reduce risks. You will prepare clear reports for the credit committee, highlighting risks and suggestions. You will monitor existing loans to spot early signs of trouble, like late payments or breaches of loan conditions. You will also ensure all credit files are complete and follow the bank’s policies and legal requirements.

What you need

You need a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field. Additional qualifications in credit risk or banking will be a plus. You must have at least three to five years of experience in banking or financial services, especially in corporate or business banking, credit analysis, or lending. You should be skilled in analyzing financial statements, cash flow, and business risks. Knowledge of credit policies, legal requirements, and risk management is essential. Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills are also required.
