What the job is

This is a job for the Head of Banking Operations at Botswana Savings Bank, based in Gaborone, Botswana. The role involves leading and managing the bank’s back-office operations, ensuring smooth processing of loans, accounts, transactions, and other financial services.

What you will do

You will develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to manage the bank’s daily back-office functions. You will work with senior management to create service agreements that support the bank’s goals. You will monitor and approve new account documents, verify their accuracy, and ensure they are correctly uploaded into the bank’s database. You will also authorize loan applications for residential, commercial, and consumer loans, and oversee the preparation of monthly reports. Additionally, you will ensure all customer documents are properly scanned, indexed, and corrected as needed.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s Degree in these areas or an MBA is highly preferred. You need at least eight years of experience in banking or a similar financial institution, with five years in back-office operations and three years in a management role. Strong skills in retail banking operations, business process improvement, planning, risk management, and financial controls are required.
