What the job is
This is a job for a Professional Quantity Surveyor at a well-known construction consultancy company. The company helps with cost management and project services in construction. The job is based in uMhlathuze Rural, KwaZulu-Natal, and is a contract position.
What you will do
You will manage quantity surveying tasks for construction and infrastructure projects. This includes preparing bills of quantities, cost estimates, valuations, and payment certificates. You will also handle cost planning, cost control, and financial reporting for projects. Additionally, you will administer construction contracts, provide commercial advice, and apply NEC contract principles. You will review contractor claims, variations, and extensions of time, as well as assess site progress and financial performance. Preparing tender documents, evaluating tenders, and supporting procurement are also part of the role. You will work with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders while maintaining accurate project records.
What you need
You must have a BSc, BTech, or BSc Honours degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification. You need to be registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor with SACQSP. Experience with NEC contracts is essential. You should have strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and commercial administration. Experience in preparing valuations, payment certificates, variations, and final accounts is required. Good communication, negotiation, and analytical skills are important. You should be able to work independently and manage multiple projects. A mature and professional approach to client relationships is also needed.
What you will get
The salary for this role ranges from R720,000 to R1,000,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a contract position with a well-established company in the construction industry. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects and grow professionally.
