What the job is

This is a permanent position for a Technical Controller at Eskom, a leading company in electricity, energy, and water supply. The job is based at Ankerlig Power Station in Atlantis, Western Cape. The role involves controlling the operations of Generation Peaking units and maintaining electrical or mechanical plant equipment to ensure smooth and efficient power generation.

What you will do

You will perform operating activities related to power generation and take out plant permits as required. Your duties will include performing administrative tasks, maintaining electrical or mechanical plant equipment, and assisting with modifications to improve operations. You will also ensure the availability of correct spare parts and materials, perform standby duties, and supervise contractors and Eskom employees during outages.

What you need

To qualify, you need a Grade 12 certificate (or NCV4/NSC3) with Maths and Science at NQF4 level, plus a Trade Test in Electrical work. Alternatively, a National Certificate in Gas Power Plant Auxiliary Systems Operations or Hydro Power Plant Auxiliary Systems Operations at NQF4 level is acceptable. You must also have at least 2 years of technical experience in a maintenance environment. Skills like teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and computer literacy are essential.
