What the job is

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join their team in Mahikeng, North West. This is a permanent position where you will work in a pharmacy, helping patients with their medicine needs and supporting the pharmacist in daily tasks. The role involves providing excellent pharmaceutical care and ensuring all legal and safety standards are met.

What you will do

You will assist with selling Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines and help prepare, compound, and package non-sterile medicines as directed by the pharmacist. You will also handle the ordering, distribution, and control of medicine stock, including checking and labeling prescriptions accurately. Additionally, you will advise patients on how to use their medication, manage customer profiles, process medical aid claims, and maintain stock levels. You will also ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and follow up with patients when needed.

What you need

To apply, you must have completed Grade 12 or Matric and hold a Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification. You must be registered with the South African Pharmacy Council. Good communication skills in English and a second language are essential, along with strong attention to detail, numerical skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Experience in retail or FMCG operations, knowledge of Unisolv, SAP, or E-Scripting, and familiarity with drug interactions or family planning medicine will be beneficial.
