What the job is
This is a Project Engineer role at SAFAL Group in Uganda. The company is looking for a skilled professional to manage construction projects, focusing on planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering tasks.
What you will do
You will develop and implement construction plans and schedules to ensure projects stay on track. You will conduct pre-installation site surveys to avoid problems during execution. You will evaluate the technical skills of installers and subcontractors during the hiring process. You will work with internal and external teams to solve onsite installation issues and provide guidance. You will supervise site work to ensure it meets company standards and client expectations. You will monitor project progress, identify risks, and create solutions to keep projects successful. You will ensure health and safety rules are followed and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports. You will also arrange training for installers and subcontractors and evaluate their performance. Additionally, you will identify and recommend installers and subcontractors for projects.
What you need
You must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, or Construction. A Diploma in Construction or Project Management is a plus. You need at least 7 years of experience in construction, with 5 years specifically in pre-engineered steel structures. You should have strong technical skills, the ability to work with architects, engineers, and other professionals, and experience in conducting site investigations and feasibility studies. You must be proficient in computer applications like Windows, Office, and AutoCAD. Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential. You should be able to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and pay attention to detail.
