What the job is

This is a Senior Occupational Health Nurse position at Eskom, a major electricity and energy company in South Africa. The job is based in Bellville, Western Cape, and involves providing comprehensive occupational health and primary healthcare services to employees. The role is fixed-term for 4 months and falls under the Health and Wellness department within Human Resources.

What you will do

You will implement and manage occupational health surveillance programs based on workplace risk profiles. You will prepare and coordinate cases for medical boarding, incapacity assessments, sick leave management, and disability evaluations in consultation with Eskom’s occupational health practitioners. You will monitor and refer acute and chronic health cases to the appropriate health services inside or outside Eskom. You will also provide advisory and consultative services to stakeholders and record all activities on Eskom’s SAP Environmental, Health, and Safety system.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor of Nursing degree (NQF8 with 480 credits) and a Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health (NQF8 with 120 credits), along with a Dispensing Licensing Certificate. You need to be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC). At least 4 years of experience in occupational health, primary healthcare, and managerial roles is required. Knowledge of relevant labor and health laws, Eskom policies, and SAP EHS systems is essential. Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills are also important.
