What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Calibration Technician at Metair Investments Limited, based in Durban West, KwaZulu-Natal. The role involves working with precision measuring tools and ensuring they are accurately calibrated for use in technical operations.

What you will do

You will perform calibration on precision measuring instruments according to a set schedule. You will maintain detailed calibration records and manage a recall program to ensure all equipment is checked on time. Your duties will also include collecting and carefully handling measuring equipment, as well as storing it properly to prevent damage.

You will conduct measurement and jig verification, and perform component inspections using tools like CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and measuring arms. Additionally, you will assist in creating metrology-related dimensional reports and complete inspection reports accurately. You will input data into the gauge management system and compile MDS (Measurement Data System) data. Other tasks include chemical sampling of effluent and participating in internal audits related to safety, health, and environmental standards.

What you need

To qualify for this role, you must have a Matric certificate along with a National Technical, Artisan Trade Certificate, or a qualification in Metrology. A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field will be an advantage. You must also have at least two years of experience in metrology or a similar technical field.
