What the job is

AVBOB, a well-known insurance company with over 100 years of history, is looking for six motivated and passionate drivers to join their Repatriation Hub in Midrand, Gauteng. This is a permanent position where you will play a key role in transporting human remains from South Africa to neighboring countries.

What you will do

You will drive long distances to deliver human remains to specified locations in neighboring countries. You will ensure that collections and transportation are done on time and according to planned routes and schedules. You will complete and update vehicle log trip sheets for every trip and perform regular vehicle inspections, especially checking tire conditions. You will also ensure the vehicle is in good working order, arrange minor repairs when needed, and keep the vehicle clean inside and out. Additionally, you will update monthly mileage records, maintain a daily log book for each service vehicle, and apply driving techniques to save fuel. You must report accidents or traffic offenses immediately, take full responsibility for the vehicle and its equipment, and follow all legal and company driving standards, including cross-border regulations. Maintaining a positive image and providing good client service is also part of the role.

What you need

You must have a Matric (Grade 12) certificate and a valid driver’s license with a Public Driver Permit. You should have at least three years of experience as a long-distance driver, preferably in a funeral service environment. Strong driving skills, teamwork, good communication, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
