What the job is

AVBOB, a well-known insurance company with over 100 years of history, is looking for six motivated and passionate drivers to join their Repatriation Hub team in Midrand, Gauteng. This is a permanent position where you will play a key role in transporting human remains from South Africa to neighboring countries.

What you will do

You will drive long distances to deliver human remains to specified locations across borders. You will collect and transport remains on time according to planned routes and schedules. You will complete and update vehicle log trip sheets for every trip and perform regular vehicle inspections, especially checking tire conditions. You will ensure the vehicles are in good working order, arrange minor repairs when needed, and keep the vehicles clean inside and out. You will also update monthly mileage records, maintain daily log books, and apply driving techniques to save fuel. Additionally, you must report accidents or traffic offenses immediately, take full responsibility for the vehicle and equipment, follow all legal and company driving standards, and maintain a positive image while providing excellent client service.

What you need

You must have a Matric (Grade 12) certificate, a valid driver’s license, and a Public Driver Permit. You should have at least three years of experience as a long-distance driver, preferably in a funeral service environment. Strong driving skills, teamwork, communication, and a service-oriented mindset are essential. You must be deadline-driven and able to adhere to cross-border driving regulations.
