What the job is

This is a job for an Auto Electrician at Assmang, a company in the mining and quarrying industry. The position is permanent and based in South Africa. You will work on fixing and maintaining the electrical and electronic parts of vehicles and heavy machinery used in mining operations.

What you will do

You will perform repairs and maintenance on the electrical wiring and electronic parts of support vehicles and earth-moving equipment. You will follow the planned maintenance schedules and respond to breakdowns by diagnosing and fixing auto electrical equipment. You will complete daily checklists for tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure everything is in good condition. You will report any problems to your supervisor and suggest improvements. You must follow all safety, health, and environmental rules, as well as quality standards. You will also take part in team meetings, contribute to team performance, and help with planning and improvement initiatives in your section.

What you need

You must have a Grade 12 certificate and an N2 qualification. You need a valid Trade Test certificate as an Auto Electrician. A valid driver’s license (Code B or EB) and a Dover B Symbol are also required. You must have at least 3 years of experience as an Auto Electrician after completing your apprenticeship, preferably in a heavy industrial, mining, or plant environment.
