What the job is

This is a Maintenance Technician position at Virgin Active South Africa, based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role involves ensuring all gym equipment, facilities, and the building itself are well-maintained and in good working order. You will work as part of a team to keep the club running smoothly for members.

What you will do

You will manage and perform preventative maintenance on gym equipment, HVAC systems, and the club premises. This includes repairing faults, inspecting the club daily for maintenance tasks, and ensuring pool maintenance is completed according to standards. You will also manage maintenance plans, suppliers, and budgets, as well as supervise the maintenance team to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the required quality. Additionally, you will handle health and safety requirements, assist with projects, and ensure the club meets brand standards.

What you need

You should have experience in maintenance, preferably in a gym or similar facility, and be able to work hands-on to repair equipment and facilities. Knowledge of HVAC systems, pool maintenance, and general building repairs is essential. You must be able to manage a team, follow budgets, and communicate effectively with contractors and management. Familiarity with health and safety regulations, such as the OSH Act, is also required.
