What the job is

This is a Maintenance Technician position at Virgin Active South Africa, based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role involves ensuring all gym equipment, facilities, and systems are well-maintained and in good working order. You will work as part of a team to keep the club running smoothly for members.

What you will do

You will manage and perform preventative maintenance on gym equipment, HVAC systems, and club facilities. This includes repairing faults, inspecting the club daily, and ensuring pool maintenance is completed according to standards. You will also handle maintenance projects, manage suppliers and budgets, and supervise the maintenance team. Additional tasks include tracking maintenance logs, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring health and safety compliance.

What you need

You should have experience in maintenance, preferably in a gym or similar facility. Knowledge of HVAC systems, gym equipment, and pool maintenance is required. You must be able to manage a team, follow maintenance schedules, and work within budget constraints. Familiarity with health and safety regulations, such as the OSH Act, is also important.
