What the job is

This is a Senior Export Controller position at Rohlig-Grindrod, a company in the logistics and supply chain industry. The job is based in Sandton, Gauteng, specifically at the Johannesburg Sea Freight Branch in Linbro Park. It is a permanent role for someone with strong experience in managing exports, coordinating freight, and ensuring compliance with customs and other regulations.

What you will do

You will plan and coordinate the movement of freight for export shipments. You will process customs and other legal documents required for customs clearance. You will handle the administration of files, process claims, and manage creditor payments and debtor invoices. You will also provide guidance to junior Export Controllers and learners. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with the Customs Accreditation System and the company’s quality management system.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and a 2-year qualification in freight forwarding at NQF level 4 or 5 (or equivalent). You need 5 to 7 years of recent experience in import/export controlling within the Clearing and Forwarding Industry. Strong knowledge of seafreight shipment types, INCOTERMS, commercial documents, and claims/insurance processes is required. You should be computer literate, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure. Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential.
