What the job is

A well-known consulting company that works in mining, engineering, and infrastructure is looking for an experienced Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) to join their team in Kempton Park, Gauteng. This is a permanent position for someone who is technically skilled, good with business matters, and can work well on their own or with a team. The company helps clients with big projects in these industries and needs someone who can handle the financial and technical side of things.

What you will do

You will provide Quantity Surveying services for mining, engineering, and infrastructure projects. This includes managing projects from the early planning stages all the way to completion. You will prepare cost plans and estimates, review and evaluate tenders, and control project costs and financial reports. You will also handle progress payments, manage changes to the project, and finalize accounts. Additionally, you will work closely with engineers, clients, and other team members to make sure all project tasks are completed accurately and on time.

What you need

You must have 8 to 14 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor and be a registered Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS). You should have a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying and strong experience in consulting, especially in mining, engineering, and infrastructure projects. You need to be skilled in cost planning, estimating, tender preparation, and project cost control. Experience with software like WinQS, DimX, and Microsoft Excel is required. You must also have good communication skills and be able to work full-time from the Kempton Park office, with occasional travel to project sites.
