What the job is

A consulting company that works in mining, engineering, and infrastructure is looking for an experienced Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) to join their team in Kempton Park, Gauteng. This role is for someone who is technically skilled, good with business matters, and can work independently while managing a team. What you will do

You will provide Quantity Surveying services for projects in mining, engineering, and infrastructure. This includes managing projects from the early planning stages to completion. You will handle cost planning, estimating, preparing and reviewing tenders, and managing project costs and financial reports. You will also prepare progress reports, payment certificates, and manage changes to projects, commercial issues, and final accounts. Additionally, you will work closely with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure all project tasks are completed accurately and on time.

What you need

You must have 8 to 14 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor and hold a valid Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) registration. You should have a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying and strong experience in a consulting environment, especially in mining, engineering, and infrastructure projects. You need to be skilled in cost planning, estimating, tender preparation, project cost control, and financial reporting. Experience with software like WinQS, DimX, and Microsoft Excel is required. You must also have good communication skills and be able to work full-time from the Kempton Park office, with occasional travel to project sites.
