What the job is
This is a position for an Organic Laboratory Technician at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation, located in the North West province. The role involves performing analytical tasks in a laboratory setting to provide reliable and cost-effective services to both internal and external customers.
What you will do
You will carry out laboratory tasks such as sampling, routine calibrations, and lab analysis according to approved schedules. You will generate lab reports, cross-check results for accuracy, and provide weekly updates to your team leader. You will also report equipment defects, perform quality checks, and maintain laboratory instruments. Additionally, you will assist with product development projects, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and help train interns and other trainees. You will maintain cleanliness in the lab and follow all required procedures for inventory, waste disposal, and sample handling.
What you need
You need a Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, with a BTech or Advanced Diploma being an advantage. At least 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory environment is required, including experience with chromatography instruments like GC, GC-MS, LC-MS, or IC. You should have strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to evaluate analytical data. Good integrity, attention to quality, customer focus, and a safety-conscious attitude are essential.
