What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Digital News Editor at eMedia Investments, based in Johannesburg North, Gauteng. The role involves managing and publishing news content across digital and traditional media platforms. You will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and other news teams to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging news delivery.

What you will do

You will plan, edit, and publish digital news content, ensuring it is accurate, balanced, and aligned with the company’s editorial standards. You will coordinate with news teams to prioritize stories, assign resources, and adapt content for different platforms like websites and social media. You will also monitor audience trends, optimize content for search engines and mobile users, and integrate multimedia elements like videos and graphics. Additionally, you will manage the digital news team during shifts, provide editorial guidance, and ensure compliance with media laws and ethical standards.

What you need

You must have a National Senior Certificate (Matric) and a National Diploma in Journalism. You need at least 7 years of experience in journalism or digital newsrooms, with 3 years in a supervisory role being recommended. Strong skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, and content management systems are required. You should also have a deep understanding of media law, press codes, and digital publishing practices. A valid driver’s license is recommended.
