What the job is
This is a Fuel Plant Support Technician position at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation, located in the North West province. The role involves working in a nuclear environment to ensure safety, compliance, and efficient operations at the fuel plant. You will support the Section Head in maintaining regulatory standards and nuclear safety protocols.
What you will do
You will assist in maintaining compliance with the Nuclear Installation License by preparing documentation and supporting inspections. You will help update Safety Analysis Reports and Operating Technical Specifications by collecting data and ensuring accuracy. You will also support nuclear safety processes, including training, inspections, and reporting to regulatory bodies like the IAEA. Additionally, you will assist with the transport of nuclear materials, manage permits, and maintain records for safeguards and safety committees.
What you need
You need a National Diploma in Nuclear Technology, Engineering, or Physics. At least 3 years of experience in a technical role within a nuclear environment is required. Knowledge of nuclear safety, licensing, safeguards, and transport regulations is essential. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow procedures are important. Good communication skills are also necessary for coordinating with different teams and regulatory agencies.
