What the job is
The Western Cape Blood Service is a non-profit organization that collects, processes, and distributes blood and blood products to save lives in the Western Cape. They are looking for an IT Service Desk Administrator to join their team in Ndabeni, Cape Town. This is a permanent position where you will be part of a small but important IT Service Desk team, helping to support the organization’s IT needs.
What you will do
You will provide first-level IT support by resolving tickets logged through phone, online, or desktop requests. You will ensure these tickets are solved within the required time frames to minimize downtime. You will also educate users on how to use IT systems and follow IT policies. Additionally, you will manage the Service Desk, handle IT administration tasks, oversee the IT procurement process, and maintain quality systems, including standard operating procedures and compliance records. You will monitor user feedback, keep users updated on their ticket progress, and look for ways to improve IT support.
What you need
You must have a National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science. At least 3 years of experience in a similar IT support role is preferred. Knowledge of ITIL 4 certification or training is a plus. You should be familiar with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, as well as desktop, laptop, and peripheral hardware. A valid Code B driver’s license without endorsements is essential.
