What the job is
This is a Cryptography Engineer position at Araxi Group, located in Bramley, Gauteng. The role focuses on designing and implementing secure cryptographic solutions for payment and financial services. You will work on systems that protect millions of transactions daily, combining cryptography, payment security, and backend engineering.
What you will do
You will design and develop cryptographic services and secure backend solutions. You will integrate applications with enterprise HSMs and cryptographic infrastructure. You will implement key management and key lifecycle processes. You will work with payment cryptography technologies such as PIN Blocks, DUKPT, CVV/CVC, PVV, and EMV. You will also implement industry standards like TR-31 and TR-34, investigate security incidents, and collaborate with clients on integration projects.
What you need
You need a strong understanding of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, including AES, RSA, ECC, hashing, HMAC, and key derivation. Experience with payment HSMs, TR-31, TR-34, PIN block formats, DUKPT, and EMV cryptography is required. Proficiency in programming languages like TypeScript, Java, Go, C/C++, or Python is essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, along with at least 2 years of professional experience in software engineering or cryptography, is required.
