What the job is

This is a Technical Buyer position offered by Kontak Recruitment in Germiston, Johannesburg. The role involves sourcing engineering materials, components, and services for a manufacturing and engineering company. It is a permanent, office-based job with set working hours from Monday to Thursday (07:00–16:00) and Friday (07:00–13:00).

What you will do

You will source technically suitable materials, components, and services, mainly from local suppliers. You will obtain and compare quotations based on price, quality, and delivery times. You will negotiate competitive pricing and manage delivery arrangements. You will create accurate purchase orders and follow up on outstanding orders to ensure materials arrive on time. You will also resolve supplier delays, incorrect deliveries, and shortages, while maintaining supplier relationships and working with engineering and production teams to clarify technical needs.

What you need

You need a Diploma or Certificate in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field. You must have at least 3 years of procurement or technical buying experience in engineering, manufacturing, or a similar industry. You should be able to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Experience with ERP procurement systems, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and supplier negotiations is required. You must also have a valid driver’s licence and your own reliable transport.

What you will get

The salary is between R30,000 and R35,000 per month, including a guaranteed 13th cheque. The job offers a stable working environment and a supportive team. It is a permanent, full-time position based in the office.
